George Wayne Bunch, 91, of Marietta, Georgia passed away Friday, February 16, 2018 at Tranquility at Kennesaw Mountain. George was born on June 16, 1926 in Talking Rock, Georgia. He lived in Pickens County until World War II when he joined the Army to serve his country. He was a rifleman in the 163rd Infantry Regiment "M" Company. He served in Zamboanga, Mindanao, Philippine Islands landing on the beaches of Leyte. Later he served with the US Army Engineer Corp at Hiroshima, Kobe and Yokohama, Japan during 1945. After the war he met the love of his life Barbara Jean Power. They were married on December 25, 1947 and lived in Marietta for over 70 years. George was a Master Electrician by trade and worked with the Mabry Electric Company thirty plus years and then worked with the Cobb County Board of Education until his retirement. George loved hunting, fishing, being at the lake in Blue Ridge and spending time with friends and family.

The family will receive guests Tuesday evening, February 20, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Marietta Funeral Home, 915 Piedmont Rd., Marietta Ga. A service in Celebration of His Life will be held on Wednesday February 21st in the Marietta Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 PM followed by a Committal service at Sandy Plains Baptist Church Cemetery.

George is survived by his loving wife of 70 years Barbara Jean (Power) Bunch and his two sons Anthony Wayne Bunch and Randy Iran Bunch and their wives Pamela Sue Bunch and Phyllis Yvonne Bunch; their four grandchildren Matthew Blake Bunch, Tara Bunch Henderson (Martin), Ashley Bunch Henry (Richard) and Caleb Iran Bunch and their two great grandchildren Charlotte Odell Henry and Maddox McCoy Henderson.
