Genneal Ingram Buchanan, age 84, of Marietta, GA, passed away at her residence surrounded by her loving family on Monday, January 29, 2018, after a courageous 11-year battle with cancer.

Born August 22, 1933, in Pickens County, GA, she was the daughter of the late Marion and Lula Bell (Jordan) Ingram. Mrs. Buchanan was a graduate of the Tate High School class of 1951. She was a long-time member of Noonday Baptist Church. For over 18 years, Mrs. Buchanan taught primarily four-year old preschoolers and served in several church preschool programs in Marietta, GA. She was known by her students as "Mrs. B." In 2011, Mrs. Buchanan was elected the Cobb EMC Women's Task Force "Woman of the Year" for her service.

Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Gene Buchanan of Marietta, GA; daughters, Valerie Buchanan Coleman of Canton, GA; Vanessa Buchanan of Woodstock, GA; granddaughter Olivia Coleman (Ryan) Smith of Buford, GA; grandsons, Preston Coleman of Atlanta, GA; Austin Duckett of Woodstock, GA; great-grandson Camden Smith; and, great-granddaughter Lily Kate Smith. Mrs. Buchanan is also survived by a sister, Shirley Kent Padgett; and, sisters-in-law Chris Ingram and Ruth Ingram; and, numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Buchanan was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and three sisters.

A Celebration of Life Service is scheduled for Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Marietta Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mark Somers and Pastor David Mahaffey; and, grandson Preston Coleman officiating. Interment will be Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 from noon until 2:00 p.m.
