Gary L. Lewis, 65, of Cartersville, died Friday, November 27, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 Sunday afternoon in the Victory Baptist Church with the Rev. Donald Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Hill Cemetery. He will lie in state in the church for 1 hour prior to the funeral service on Sunday. Mr. Lewis was born in Oak Ridge, Tennessee and had lived in Cartersville for the past 17 years. He received his Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and was the manager of inspection services with the Atlanta Housing Authority. Gary was a member of the Georgia Association of Home Inspectors and a member of Victory Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn Griggs Lewis and a brother, Larry Lewis. Surviving are his wife, Darlene Lewis of Cartersville; children, Darla Lewis Ryan, Brandon Lewis, and Matthew Lewis, all of Cartersville; father, Ed Lewis of Acworth; granddaughter, Taylor Lynn Lewis of Cartersville; siblings, Rhonda Brookshire, Dennis Lewis, Rev. Donald Lewis, and Roger Lewis, all of Acworth; several nieces and nephews also survive. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Victory Baptist Church 5717 Priest Rd. Acworth, GA 30102.
