Eugene "Gene" Vassallo, 88, of Acworth, passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2023. A memorial service will be held at Mars Hill Presbyterian Church on Saturday, June 24 at 11:00am with Dr. Bryant Harris Officiating.

Gene served his country in the Navy during the Korean Conflict. After returning home he became a machinist by trade, and was a manager at Boeing for many years. He was a member of Mars Hill Presbyterian Church where he helped run the food pantry. He was a beloved member of his community at Celebration Village. He was an avid reader, especially of history. When he wasn't reading he could be found trying to round up some friends for a game of cards. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Gene is preceded in death by his two wives, Barbara Vassallo, and Dorothy Vassallo; as well as his son, Tommy Vassallo, and step-son, Jamie Cockerill. He is survived by his son, Jimmy Vassallo; sister, Pat Borkowski; step-children, Debra Underwood, Bill Cockerill, Pam Cockerill, Susan Cockerill, and Stephen Cockerill; as well as many grand, and great-grandchildren.
