Doris Suddreth
Lawrence
Jun 24, 1925 — Jun 7, 2018
On June 7, 2018 Martha Doris Suddreth Lawrence, 92, of Marietta, left this world and went home to the Lord. She passed peacefully, in the early morning hours while she slept. Known by Doris, she had been residing at Dogwood Forest Assisted Living in Acworth, GA for the past three years. Doris was a long time resident of Cobb County, having moved here in 1953 with her husband and family.
Doris was born in North Carolina on June 25, 1925. She was orphaned at the age of ten and raised by a variety of family members until she graduated high school in Lenoir, NC. She married Thomas Suddreth in 1949. They raised five children and remained married until his death in 1990. Doris was first a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church and later, Mt Paran Church of God. She worked for the US Air Force as a contracts administrator until her retirement.
Doris married Henry Lawrence in 1995 and remained married to him until his death in 2001. After she retired she joined the Cobb County YMCA Kickers in which she performed in many metro Atlanta long- term care facilities. She was crowned Queen of the "All Dolled Up" Chapter of the Red Hat Society. Mom's faith was so consistent and for that we will always be grateful. She taught us so much about living life and serving God. She was always active in her church and loved participating in senior activities and trips. Doris loved to travel and took trips to both Europe and Asia. She also took great delight in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Doris is survived by her children, Thom Suddreth (wife Cheryl), Tim Suddreth (wife Debra), Terry Suddreth (wife Cindy), Tamara Coker (husband Tracey) and Tina Weber (husband Dave). She has seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
