Doris Kathaleen Long Cornelius, age 93, of Kennesaw, GA, passed peacefully on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Tranquility Community Hospice in Marietta, GA.  Doris was born on October 17, 1924 in Polk County/Copperhill, TN to John Blaine and Margret "Grace" Wilson Long.  Doris was a 1943 graduate of Copperhill High School and was an early member of the First Baptist Church of McCaysville-Copperhill.

Following WWII, Doris settled in Marietta, GA in the newly constructed Victory Heights behind Roswell St. Baptist Church.  While employed by the Holeproof Hosiery Mill, Doris met Chalmers N "Jack" Cornelius, an employee of the Lockheed aircraft corporation and they were married in 1953.

Doris was an avid gardener and enjoyed preserving vegetables to share with friends and relatives and was very knowledgeable about using methods handed down through her American Indian heritage.

Doris is survived by her brother J. B. Long Jr.; daughter Jania Lambert, granddaughter Kellee Mulkerin; great grandchildren, James Mulkerin and Madelyn Mulkerin, all of Las Vegas, NV and son, Maurice "Reece" Cornelius of Kennesaw, GA.

Interment was held at Mountain View Park Cemetery, Marietta, GA. The family would like to extend sincere thanks to Renee and others at the Kennestone professional building, and also Michelle and staff of Amedisy In Home Hospice, Wellstar Kennestone Hospital nurses and doctors and the staff of  Tranquility Wellstar Community Hospice and especially the volunteers of Tranquility that provided much appreciated prayers and who performed American Indian Flute music for Doris while at her bedside.
