Obituary

Clyde Baxter, 86, of Acworth, passed away Thursday, April 28, 2022.  Funeral services will be held, 2:00pm Wednesday afternoon in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with the Bishop Lynn Christenson officiating.  Burial will follow in the Rolling Hills Memory Gardens.  A native of Floyd Co. Clyde moved to Acworth in 1941.

He retired in 1993 from Coats & Clark after 40 years of service.  Clyde was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and an active member of the 176 Masonic Lodge in Acworth for 50 years.  He was Master of the Lodge two times and held many offices, which at the time of death he was the Tyler.  Clyde loved and was ever faithful to Masonic work, involved in many charitable activities concerning the Acworth community.  He was also a member of Allatoona Charities and Cobb County Masonic Low 12 Club. Clyde also enjoyed umpiring, playing ball, coaching, fishing and shooting pool.

Clyde was preceded in death by siblings, Frank, Clifford, Ben and Cecil Baxter and Hazel Arther.  He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Betty Baxter of Acworth; children, Sue Ellen (Mark) Barfield of Kingston, Karen Bryan of Acworth and Jase (Reina) Baxter of Reno, TX.; grandchildren, Kyle (Bre) Barfield, Kurt (Emily) Barfield, Dustin (Zoraida) Bryan and Taylor Bryan; great grandchildren, Addison Grady, Mackenzie Grady, Hank Barfield, Easton Grady, Harlow Barfield, Bodhi Barfield, Judah Barfield, Gus Geurian-Baxter and Castillo Salazrar.  The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:00-2:00 at the church.  Collins Funeral Home 4947 North Main St. Acworth, GA 30101 770-974-3133.
