Clarence McDonald, (aka Bunk to his family), one of eight children was born on Thursday, July 17, 1952 in Laurinburg, North Carolina (Scottland County) to the late James Author McDonald (father) and Thether Thomas McDonald (mother). Clarence, although born and raised in North Carolina, later moved to Springfield, Massachusetts as an adult where he built a life for himself and became a father to his only son Clarence McDonald, Jr..

Clarence was a longstanding employee of The Springfield Municipal Hospital for twelve years, at which time he met his "Life Partner and Love of his Life" – Sally Maria Bland in the summer of 1986 and the rest was history. Together, they relocated to the Atlanta area and built an amazing life together. Clarence became a longtime employee of COSTCO for eighteen years, until he was stricken with pancreatic cancer and unfortunately had to resign, as he began his treatments. Clarence loved being a part of the COSTCO family and loved every second and every day of his job. Being a part of such an amazing Team gave him a sense of purpose. Clarence's pastime was watching sports, playing Bingo and spending all of his every waking moment with Sally. He was a simple, easy going and extremely humble man, whose world revolved around Sally. They were inseparable and wherever she was, is where he wanted to be. Fast forward to Thursday, May 13, 2021, Clarence passed away in the comfort of the home they shared and with her by his side, holding his hand until his last breath, as he requested. Clarence left this world the way he wanted to leave, at home, while in the arms of his "Life Partner" and not in a hospital.

Clarence is survived by his Life Partner, Sally Maria Bland; one son, Clarence McDonald, Jr. (Danielle); three bonus children; Sally Haynes (Joseph Sr.), Willie Bland (Christina) and Reme Bland (Marv); six grandchildren Londyn, Chistian, Antonio Terrence, Avery, Alisha, Krystal; seven bonus grandchildren; Niya, Todd, Aliyah, Caleb, Christian, Julian, Bliss and three great grandchildren; Travis, Honesty and Camri. Clarence is also survived by 4 siblings; sisters, Mary Kelly (Monroe), Shirley McClain, Josephine McDonald; brother James Author McDonald; his favorite nephews, Mosses, Fred, Lamont and several other nieces and nephews; the late; father, James Author McDonald, mother, Thether Thomas McDonald; sisters, Lucy Afford, Theresa Blue and brother James Lewis McDonald.

Clarence will forever be missed and loved by our family and all who had the privilege of knowing him. He would be so touched by the outpouring of love, support, kindness, generosity and compassion everyone has shown to our family, but most importantly to the "Love of His Life" Sally. We know he is forever grateful for everyone's attendance as well.

Thank You for being a part of Clarence's life, you will now forever be a part of Ours!

Deepest Regards & Appreciation,

Sally Bland, Clarence McDonald, Jr.
