Obituary

Cheryl Rosemary Bauer, ascended to heaven January 12th, 2019 after a valiant battle with Liver Cancer. She was born in Marietta GA, to John P. Tumlin and Doris Jacquelin Riley. She found and met the love of her life and best friend in a young military man stationed in Atlanta named John Richard Bauer in 1969. They were married on May 8th, 1971 and remained married for 47 years.

A wife, mother, daughter, sister, cousin, friend, and mentor to so many, Cheryl's warm and authentic personality brought out the best in everyone whom she encountered. Cheryl had a true passion for her faith, a fondness for our community, a love for conversation, and tremendous sweet tooth.

Cheryl was an accomplished business executive in the HR field for many years in the Atlanta area.  She was a member of multiple community outreaches and boards, and valued the character and worth of all people. Cheryl was a living example of what it means to be an authentic Christian and human; she led a fulfilling life of kindness, love, charity and grace. Throughout her battle with cancer she was a source of strength and inspiration to many, and she will be missed greatly by all who were close to her.

Cheryl is survived by her husband, John, children Nick, and Anna. Her sister, Sandy and grandchildren Paige and Leighton. Cheryl's intense faith remained steadfast throughout this ordeal and her final hours were spent surrounded by family and friends. She is and will be missed immensely by her family and many others who came into contact with her throughout her life.

Cheryl's wishes were to spend time celebrating her life and not mourning her loss. She was adamant that she preferred all of us to remember the best times with her and spend time sharing stories of those memories.

Please join us celebrating her life Monday Evening, January 14th, 2019, from 6:00 to 8:00pm at Marietta Funeral Home, 915 Piedmont Road, Marietta, GA 30066.  A Funeral Mass will be held the following day at 1:30pm at Transfiguration Catholic Church in Marietta, GA.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in her name at https://donate3.cancer.org.
