Obituary

Charles E. Piper, 79, of Marietta, died Saturday, March 25, 2017.  A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm Sunday April 2nd in the chapel of Marietta Funeral Home.  A native of McDonough, Mr. Piper had lived in Marietta since 1977, coming here from Decatur.  He was a 1956 graduate of Murphy High School in Atlanta and served his country in the US Marine Corps.  A retired employee of Lucent Technologies, Mr. Piper liked to take trips and had traveled extensively with his wife, Sue.  He met with a group every day for coffee and doughnuts at the Dunkin Donuts on Sandy Plains Road.  He is survived by his wife, Sue Piper of Marietta; daughter, Lisa Piper Watts and husband Mike of Kennesaw; grandchildren, Ryan Watts and Stephanie Watts, both of Kennesaw.  The family requests that FLOWERS BE OMITTED and that contributions be made to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org .  The family will receive friends prior to the memorial service on Sunday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at Marietta Funeral Home 915 Piedmont Rd.
