Charles A.
Knight, Sr.
Dec 11, 1933 — Jan 22, 2021
Charles A. Knight, Sr. went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Friday, January 22, 2021, after suffering from complications of COVID-19, at the age of 87. He asked to "go home," and that he did. He was the son of Maidie and Dewey Knight, Sr., of Kennesaw, Georgia. He was born in Kennesaw and lived most of his life there. He was a life-long member of Kennesaw First Baptist Church. Over the years, he served there in several capacities, including as a Sunday School teacher, Training Union Director, deacon, and even as local historian. In addition to attending church, he enjoyed going to the Kennesaw City Council meetings and keeping up with the goings on in his local community. Charles proudly served in the United States Army. He stood guard in Germany's Fulda Gap during the Cold War keeping the Soviets out of Western Europe. Charles also enjoyed bird watching in his front yard, telling stories of his past, discussing his plants and the editorial column of the Marietta Daily News, and chatting with neighbors. As a loving father, grandfather, and family member, he was always just a phone call away from being a help.
He is survived by a son, daughter-in-law, granddaughter, brother, plus 3 sister-in-laws and numerous nieces and nephews. He has 1 surviving sibling, Hugh Lee Knight, out of 7 siblings.
Charles was known for his deep faith and passion of his Savior, Jesus, about whom he was quick to share the good news of salvation and eternal life.
Burial will be at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Kennesaw First Baptist Church's Children's ministry.
