Carol Jean
Ross
Nov 26, 1942 — Aug 25, 2025
Carol Ross, a kindhearted, quiet, and lovely woman, passed away suddenly on August 25, 2025, at the age of 82. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Carol was the first in her family to earn an associate's degree. She went on to work as a bookkeeper, a career that allowed her to help provide for her family she cherished. In 1962, Carol married the love of her life, John Ross. Together, they shared 56 years of marriage, raising their two children, John Jr. and Suzanne, before John's passing in 2018. Carol and John raised their family in New Jersey before following their children to Georgia, where Carol spent the last 28 years of her life. She quickly became the heart of her neighborhood cul-de-sac, loved by friends and neighbors who often considered her a "second mom." She was also the last of the full Norwegians in her family, something she carried with pride, especially through her cooking. Carol was a wonderful cook. Her Norwegian pancakes were her son's favorite dish, and her Italian tomato sauce and meatballs were simply to die for. Sharing her food was another way she showed her love, and family gatherings around her table were some of her happiest moments. Her role as "Grandma" was one she embraced with joy. Cole, Gabriella, Dean, John David, and Gina adored her, and she treasured every opportunity to spoil them with love, treats, and gifts. In her later years, Carol discovered a love of traveling, seeing the world alongside her family and close friends, collecting memories filled with fun and adventure. Carol will be remembered for her gentle soul, her warmth, her cooking and her devotion to family and friends. Her life was one of quiet strength and generous love. She is survived by her son John James Ross Jr. (Antoinette Ross), her daughter Suzanne Carol Rainwater (Mike Rainwater), her five grandchildren, and the many friends and neighbors who were blessed to know her. A memorial service celebrating Carol's life will be held at Collins Funeral Home in Acworth, Georgia, on Friday, September 26, from 5:00–8:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and honor her remarkable life.
