Obituary

Byron Woodruff "Pappy" Wright , age 94, passed away March 20, 2016.  He was born on September 15, 1921, in Caldwell, Idaho and he moved to Atlanta in 2006 to be near his daughter and family.

Byron was a decorated veteran of WWII, serving as an aerial gunner in a B17. He flew 25 missions and served his country for 5 years. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing when he lived in Idaho.  Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by his daughter JoEllen Smith; son-in-law, James Jackson Smith; three grandsons, Jamey, Jason, Jay P., and their wives, Jamie, Sharon, and Carla; two great grandchildren, Brody and Briley; and brothers Albert Wright of Blackfoot, Idaho and Bernard Wright, of Washington State.

A memorial service will be held at Marietta Funeral Home in Marietta, GA on Wednesday, March 23rd at 11:00 AM .  Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 AM prior to the service.  A scattering ceremony with military honors will be held at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA at 1 pm .  In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to https://militarywarriors.org/ .  Online condolences may be expressed at www.mariettafuneralhome.org.
