Brenda Abernathy Owenby of Acworth, born to the late Mr. and Mrs. Talmadge Abernathy, September 22, 1941, passed away Saturday, June 28, 2025. Preceded in death by her husband, Harold England Owenby. Brenda and Harold were married for 63 years. They were dedicated to their families, church and community. They were always there for advice, guidance and support. During those 63 years they Were like parents and grandparents to their younger siblings and to their nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Brenda was the first graduate of North Cobb High School in 1959. She was voted "Friendliest" as a Senior Superlative. She went to work for Cobb County in the Superior Court Clerk's Office on June 1, 1959. Brenda retired after 50 years of full-time employment and then returned to work part-time for an additional 13 years. She was honored with a plaque, placed in the Superior Court Building, for her 50 years of service to Cobb County. Brenda was a dedicated member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church for more than 70 years. She held different offices in the church including a Sunday School Teacher of the Children. She was a good and faithful servant. All who had the honor of knowing Brenda through her 63 years of employment with Cobb Superior Court, her church family and friends called her "Sweet Brenda". Brenda is survived by her sisters, Mary Jo Walker of Centre, Al, Beverly Lee (Earl) and Becky Michael (Vince) of Acworth, her niece, Mary Conine Muller (David), nephews, Joey Walker, Joshua, Jonathan and Jacob Michael, great nieces and nephew and her Late husband's sister, Joyce Owens (Omar), sister-in-law, Lynn Owenby, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held at Collins Funeral Home, Acworth Georgia on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The service will be on Thursday, July 3, 2025 at 2:00pm, Collins Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Tommy Reinhardt, Interment to follow
