She and her husband, Bill Williams, got married at the courthouse 75years ago for $5 alongside a couple of friends also getting married one afternoon. Pa says it was "the best $5 I ever spent." They married shortly before WWII. Betty visited Bill whenever she could during their time separated by the war, even riding cross-country on a bus for just a few moments with him before he sailed across the Pacific. When he returned, they were never apart, even working together at General Motors for a while before she devoted her time to raising their children.

Their enduring love has been shared with 3 generations of children. Their daughter, Susan Harris, their son, Billy Stephen Williams, their granddaughter, Denise Mary Voege, and their great granddaughters, Stephanie Funk-Hilkin and Silvan Voege. Each child can attest to Betty's strength and everlasting, unconditional love that would go to the end of the world to make them happy. On Ma's last day with us, she said "I've spent my entire life trying to make you happy, and I'm happy the good lord has allowed me to have been here this long. I love you." She passed at home, with family surrounding her and Bill by her side. Her love for all children made her a beacon for stability, comfort and dedication. She was always true in her words, reaching out to everyone with heartfelt advice and support whenever they were in need.

Betty and Bill have enjoyed traveling, sports and lifelong friendships with everyone they met throughout their years together. Betty loved getting out on town and always dressed her finest; her hair perfectly arranged and jewelry elegantly chosen. Her beauty shined in every moment, from waking up in matching satin pajamas and floral housecoat and slippers, to going out on the town in her younger years wearing skirts, gloves and hats to her later years in her favorite vests, purses and necklaces. Pa often said "She was and is the most beautiful girl in town."

Their travels took them on vacations to Tallulah Gorge, Jeckyll Island, New Orleans, Alabama and Florida beaches. Often too, North Carolina for her brother, James and his wife Ira and their children Carol & Jan. Betty looked forward to every vacation, but too she loved the comforts of home and around the house she enjoyed watering her favorite plants (impatients, ferns, pansies) and playing with her dogs (through the years, Tina, Mitsy, Sean, Kasie, Stevie, Pearl to name a few) or feeding neighborhood cats with fish caught from fishing on her boat. She loved animals, she loved all life.

The family spent many times together partying, often at home on their beautiful back porch with big feasts, or too on the family boat. Betty and Bill have enjoyed sailboats, cruisers and a houseboat over the years. Spending the night together over meals and music on the lake are some of Ma's happiest memories.

92 years of Betty was not enough. If love of life alone could've kept her alive, she would be here with us physically forever. But until we're together again, we'll have to feel her presence in our memories and the moments we feel her guidance in our times of need.

Betty is survived by Bill, their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Our family's universal mother can rest knowing she made us beyond happy every year of our lives.
