Barbara Ann Cockerill Vassallo

Born in Waynesboro Pa., Barbara first mission was always to serve Christ.

While serving on the board of health in NJ, she fought against the powers that be and succeeded in shutting down a landfill. It had been leaching poison into the aquifer and causing deformities in babies.

For 25 years, she and Gene worked at the Mars Hill Presbyterian Church Food Pantry.  Always a smiling face, she also was a volunteer at Kennestone WellStar Hospital for 12 years.

Barbara was killed in a car accident in Al. before Christmas on their way to see family in Mississippi.

Her surviving children are: William C. Cockerill, Pamela Kay Cockerill, Debra Ann Cockerill Underwood, Stephen Henry Cockerill, Susan Barbara Cockerill and James Phillip Cockerill (deceased). Her step-sons are James Vassallo and Tommy Vassallo (deceased). 20 grandchildren and 16 great grand children plus her children's spouses adored her.

Barbara's Memorial service will be at 2pm Jan. 6 at Mar's Hill Presbyterian Church.
