Dr. A. Bernard (Bernie) Hatch passed away peacefully at Tranquility Hospice care on April 12, 2017. He was born in Toledo OH and graduated from Defiance College in 1953. He later earned an MS, an Ed.S. and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Indiana University.

In 1958, he married Mona Jean Endsley in Bryan OH. He was a devoted husband to his wife and loving father to their four children.

Bernie worked as a teacher, coach and administrator in public education for over 50 years before retiring. He served as the Superintendent of Schools for Williamsville (NY) Central Schools and Dayton (OH) Public Schools prior to being named Executive Director of the Atlanta Metro RESA in 1989.

He is survived by; his daughter Michelle and her husband Charles of Columbus; his son Mark and his wife Janet of Kennesaw; his daughter Melanie of Macon; his daughter Melissa and her husband Robert of Charlotte; and his grandchildren Danielle, Christopher, Jessica, Troy, and Justin.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on June 24, 2017 at the East Cobb United Methodist Church in Marietta.  The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00pm to 2:00pm prior to the service.
