Obituary

Mrs. Lou Cagle Kennedy (Nana), the most genuine and loving soul, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 10, 2025, surrounded by her devoted family. Lou was born in Demorest, Georgia, on December 30, 1933, to Issac and Mary Montine Cagle. She attended Tallulah Falls School and later retired from Kroger in 1996. She was a faithful member of Acworth Presbyterian Church.

After moving to Atlanta for work, Lou met the love of her life, W.H. Kennedy, on a blind date— a meeting that blossomed into a lifetime of devotion. Together, they built a beautiful life in Acworth, sharing 49 cherished years of marriage and raising 5 children. Their legacy of love grew to include 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, each one blessed by her warmth and generosity.

Lou carried a rare and beautiful gift of turning mere walls into a haven. Her tender hands brought life to the garden, comfort to the kitchen and joy to the oven where her famous cakes were as sweet as the kindness that overflowed from her heart. Lou was the epitome of elegance, embodying grace and class in every quiet word and gentle touch. Her calm, loving presence was woven through every part of her life and will forever remain alive in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.

Lou was preceded in death by her parents, Isaac and Montine; her beloved husband, W.H.; siblings Inez, Nellie, Gene, Charles and Benny; and her grandsons, Zachary Bailey and Ryan Kennedy.

She is survived by her 5 children Shelia Bailey (Chris), Norman Kennedy (Leonda), Greg Kennedy (Linda), Dana Jones (Toby), and Donna Renfer (Kurt); 11 grandchildren Cody Bailey (April), Brittany Kennedy, Travis Moss (Andrea), Carly Bailey, Katlyn Aikens (Justin), Marissa Kennedy, Austin Kennedy, Taylor Jones, Cameron Renfer (Alyssa), Brooke Renfer, and Lindsay Hauk (C.J.); and 12 great-grandchildren Cheyenne, Raegan, Kaysen, Laiken, Jordyn, Averie, Kensington, Jhett, Spencer, Lily, Indy, and Grayson; sister-in-law Frances Cagle; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 14, 2025 from 5-8pm at Collins Funeral Home in Acworth. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August, 15 2025 at 11:00am in the chapel of Collins Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Liberty Hill Cemetery in Acworth.
